Medical Assistant Bilingual Float - East Houston (Job Overview)

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient interviews to gather medical information and vital signs.
  • Record medical histories, vital statistics, and test results in electronic medical records.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations, including administering injections and removing sutures.
  • Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Handle phone consultations regarding test results and health concerns.
  • Perform phlebotomy and administer medications as ordered.
  • Ensure all exam rooms are well-stocked and manage biohazard waste appropriately.
  • Participate in safety training and performance improvement programs.
  • Promote effective teamwork and communication within the department.
  • Maintain a safe environment and adhere to OSHA compliance standards.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism towards patients and colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS/CPR Certification required.
  • Up to one year of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic front desk or healthcare support skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Commitment to preventive health care and team collaboration.
  • Experience with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
